Profile- Bono Region

Bono Region used to be Brong Ahafo Region. The recent creation of six new regions led to the creation of two new regions (Bono East and Ahafo Regions) out of then Brong Ahafo Region. The current Bono Region is as a result of the remainder of Brong-Ahafo Region when Bono East Region and Ahafo region were created. Sunyani, known as the green city of Ghana is the regional capital. The Region covers a land area of 11,481sq km and shares boundaries with Savannah, Bono East, Ahafo and Western North Regions. It also shares international border with La Cote d’ Ivoire. It has twelve (12) Administrative districts. With a growth rate of 2.3%, the region has a total of 1,195,690 (projected from 2010 census). The estimated population for children < 1year is 46,752 and children < 5 is 233,762.
