Dr. Abdulai Abukari is a Public Health Specialist. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Istanbul in the Republic of Turkey. He joined the Ghana Health Service as a Medical Officer in 2003 and was posted to Wa Regional Hospital in the Upper West Region. He subsequently worked as Medical Superintendent in Lawra District Hospital, Tumu Government Hospital and Walewale District and as a District Director of Health Service for the West Mamprusi District.
He also acted briefly as the Deputy Director Clinical Care for Northern Region as well as Medical Superintendent for Tatale Polyclinic. In June 2018, Dr. Abdulai Abukari was appointed as the Deputy Director Public Health and posted to the Upper West Region. He was later on reassigned to the newly created North East Region as the acting Regional Director of Health Service until his formal appointment as the Substantive Regional Director of Health Service in December 2019.
Dr. Abdulai Abukari has Masters in Public Health (MPH) from School of Public Health University of Ghana, Membership in Public Health from the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. He also has a certificate in Health Administration and Management from the Ghana Institute of Public Administration (GIMPA) and an Executive Professional Certificate in Health Systems Management, Leadership and Governance from the Pentecost University.
Dr. Abdulai Abukari interest is in the area of Health Systems, Mentorship, Reproductive and Child Health as well as Quality Assurance in Clinical Care Practice.
