Dr. Josephat Ana-Imwine Nyuzaghl is a Public Health Physician Specialist and a Member of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has over 19years of experience spanning clinical work, public health and leadership in the Ghana Health Service.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University Ghana, Legon. In addition, Dr. Nyuzaghl has persued several short courses including in applied epidemiology, public health surveillance from CDC, Atlanta, USA and Community-Based Primary Health Care in South Korea and Japan.
Dr. Nyuzaghl has worked in different capacities within the GHS; Medical Officer in West Gonja Hospital, Damongo (2004-2009), Medical Superintendent, Bole District hospital (2009-2018) and Acting District Director, Bole District (2010-2011) all in the Savannah region, Ghana.
Dr Nyuzaghl has previously been at the forefront of polio eradication efforts in Ethiopia (2012-2013) and Ebola outbreak response in Liberia (2014) under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO).
He was appointed as a Deputy Director In-Charge of Public Health in 2018 and assigned to the Upper East region, where he provided leadership in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all public health programs and activities, a position he held until his appointment as Regional Director of Health Service in September, 2023.
