Dr. Damien Punguyire is a Public Health Specialist and a member of the Ghana College of Physicians and surgeons with over seventeen years of experience spanning clinical work, project management, research, disease surveillance, preparedness and response, undergraduate training and leadership in the public sector.
He obtained his BSc in Human Biology and MBChB in 2004 and undertook his housemanship training at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital from 2004 to 2005. Thereafter, he worked as Medical Officer at Effia-Nkwanta Hospital in the Western Region and Kintampo Municipal Hospital in the Bono East Region. While at Kintampo Municipal Hospital, he served as the Ag. Medical Superintendent and later became the substantive medical superintendent of the same hospital from 2006-2013.
In 2014, He was appointed the Ag, Municipal Director of Health Service for Techiman before becoming substantive Municipal Director of Health service for Nkoranza South Municipality in 2018.
In 2020, he was appointed a Deputy Director in charge of Public and posted to the Upper West region where he later acted as Regional Director for few months before he was confirmed as the substantive Regional Director.
