Profile Research and Development Director

Dr Oduro is the Director of Research and Development of Ghana Health Service. Prior to this he was the Director of the Navrongo Health Research Centre.  He is a trained medical doctor from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a licensure from the Ghana Medical and Dental Council. In addition, he holds a Masters and a PhD degree in Epidemiology from the University of the Witwatersrand and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine respectively, and Masters’ degree in Organizational Leadership and Governance from the University of Ghana. Dr Oduro is an elected Fellow of Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons and a member of Ghana Medical Association, Ghana Public Association and the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He is a Part time Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Public Health and the University for Development Studies. He mentors and supervises local and foreign students.

Dr Oduro has over twenty year’s uninterrupted experience in health research practice working on several clinical, epidemiological, demographic and innovative studies in Ghana.  At the outset he practiced as a Medical Doctor at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi and War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo. He has worked as a temporal advisor on product research and development and monitored several clinical trials for the WHO/TDR. He has consulted for several local and foreign organizations.

Dr Oduro’s current research relate to health measurements in disease control, product development research, health systems strengthening, and maternal and child health related issues. Dr Oduro has over 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals and articles and has attracted several researches and programme grants
