In his short remarks last Thursday at the closing ceremony of the Local Content Conference and Exhibition(LCCE), organised by the Petroleum Commission in Takoradi, the Acting Director-General of Ghana Health Service, Dr Samuel Kaba Akoriyea encouraged corporate organisations to prioritise investment in the health sector as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
He noted that “any baby we save today is the future, he could be the next president, the next minister, or the next farmer who will put food on our table.”
He emphasised the need for stakeholders to focus their support on strengthening the health sector, highlighting that a resilient health system benefits everyone and contributes to national development.
Dr. Kaba further promised to streamline processes and make it more flexible for organisations to support the Service by ensuring that challenges faced in extending assistance to the Service becomes a thing of the past.
He announced that the Ghana Health Service would soon share with corporate partners specific areas where support is most needed to help direct CSR efforts effectively and strategically.
Concluding his remarks, he called for sacrifice and partnership among all stakeholders to build the strong and viable health system that Ghanaians aspire to have.
