Ghana Health Sector Champions Digital Innovation for Diabetes and Hypertension Care
The Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service in partnership with GIZ under the AYA Integrated Healthcare Initiative organised the AYA Innovation Challenge focused on advancing digital solutions to strengthen patient self-care in the prevention and management of diabetes and hypertension.
Held under the theme Designing the Future of Patient Self-Care, the event brought together innovators across Ghana to present practical, data-driven tools aimed at empowering patients and improving healthcare delivery across Ghana.
Delivering the opening remarks, Dr. Franklin Asiedu- Bekoe, Director Public Health, Ghana Health Service commended the partners and organizers for initiating the forward-looking programme and applauded the young innovators for their creativity, energy, and ideas which have the potential to drive healthcare transformation in Ghana.
Dr. Asiedu-Bekoe encouraged stakeholders to build collaborations beyond the event, emphasizing that the innovation challenge would not only showcase brilliant ideas but also inspire new partnerships and investments to accelerate Ghana’s health system transformation.
Dr. Hafiz Adam Taher, in his keynote address on behalf of the Minister of Health, highlighted the urgent need to empower citizens to better manage their health, particularly as cases of Type 2 diabetes and hypertension continue to rise across the country.
