Over the past week, the Ghana Health Service has intensified preparations for the effective rollout of the Government’s Free Primary Healthcare Programme through a series of capacity-building trainings across various levels of the Service.

A key milestone was the Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop held in Kumasi, which brought together health professionals from various cadres to build their capacity in home visits and patient navigation, critical components of delivering accessible, people-centred primary healthcare.

The training received strong leadership support from the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea; the FPHC Coordinator and Deputy Director, IME, Dr. Salamatu Attah Nantongma, and the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services, Dr. Eva Mensah, who were present to lend their support and reinforce the Service’s commitment to the successful implementation of the programme.

These trainings represent an important step towards equipping our health workforce with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to bring quality healthcare closer to individuals, families and communities.

Together, we are strengthening primary healthcare and advancing the vision of accessible, equitable and quality healthcare for all.
