Dr. Robert Amesiya
Dr. Robert Amesiya is the esteemed Orthopedic surgeon and Medical Director of the Greater Accra. A distinguished leader in healthcare administration and clinical excellence with over 2decades of practice in the Ghana Health Service. With a strong background in Orthopaedic Surgery and Public Health, he has made significant contributions to healthcare in Ghana. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing trauma care, surgical interventions, and medical training in the region. Through research, innovation, and professional engagement, Dr. Amesiya continues to impact medical practice and patient outcomes positively.
His educational background spans globally renowned institutions, earning him multiple certifications in global health, leadership, and clinical practice. His credentials include: Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda (2011 – 2015) – Orthopedic Specialist, University of Ghana School of Public Health (2009 – 2010) – master’s in public health and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (1997 – 2004) – MBChB, Medicine.
Under his visionary leadership, UWRH has seen significant strides in health service delivery, infrastructure improvement, and stakeholder collaboration. His proactive approach in engaging with health authorities, medical professionals, and development partners has resulted in the hospitals achievement as the best secondary level hospital in Ghana for two consecutive times at the Ghana health service excellence awards (2023 & 2024).
Dr. Amesiya is highly regarded for his strategic thinking, ability to foster teamwork, and unwavering dedication to quality healthcare. His leadership has created a conducive environment for medical professionals to thrive, while his advocacy for continuous professional development ensures that UWRH remains a center of medical excellence in the Upper West Region.
