Dr. Godfred Kwabena Sarpong is a Senior Public Health Specialist and currently works serves as the Western North Region Director of Health Service. He is directly responsible for the implementation of the national health policies and decisions of the Ghana Health Service Council in the Western North Region, under the technical direction of the Director- General of the Ghana Health Service. He also advices the Regional Coordinating Council on matters of health and healthcare delivery.

He has several years of experience in both clinical and public health services. He holds a MBcHB degree from the University of Ghana Medical School, Masters in Public Health (MPH) degree from School of Public Health (Legon), Membership of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (MGCPS), and MBA from the University of Suffolk. He holds several certificates in strategic leadership, management, and health systems strengthening.

Dr. Sarpong has extensive experience working with community, district and regional level key actors to improve on quality primary and secondary health care services. He worked on an innovative integrated skin Neglected Tropical Disease project for early their detection and management with funding support from ANESVAD (Spanish NGO), later adopted by WHO- NTD program as a cost- effective tool for the program.

He has received district and regional recognitions for his work in disease surveillance, public health innovations, and in maternal/newborn health. He has authored and co-authored several research publications. He is a Christian and married and lives with his family in Takoradi, in the Western Region of Ghana.
