The Ghana Health Service (GHS), through the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC), held a two-day validation workshop on the Public Health Workforce Surge Training Package from 9–10 September 2026 at the GHS Head Office Conference Room, Pantang, Accra. The workshop aimed to ensure that the package is technically sound, practical and suitable for preparing a competent and deployment-ready workforce for public health emergencies.

GHS RECEIVES THREE TOYOTA HILUX PICKUPS TO STRENGTHEN RMNCAHN SERVICES
That Service has received and handed over three Toyota Hilux pickup vehicles to the Central, Eastern and Ashanti Regions to support the implementation of the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAHN) Networks of Practice (NoP) initiative. The vehicles, procured by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), with UNICEF serving as the implementing partner, are expected to enhance mobility and strengthen supervision, monitoring and community-level interventions across the beneficiary regions.

GHANA HEALTH SERVICE CONDUCTS AN INTRA-ACTION REVIEW (IAR) ON MPOX OUTBREAK RESPONSE
The Ghana Health Service, in conjunction with all One Health stakeholders, has completed a two-day Intra-Action Review of the country's response to the ongoing Mpox outbreak. Approximately a year after a series of confirmed Mpox cases sent health teams racing into action, the review sought to account for and evaluate the current response. The meeting brought together animal, environmental and security agencies, as well as regional and district-level health staff, senior management and international development partners to assess the effectiveness of the national response and determine the measures required to bring the outbreak to a conclusive end.

The launch, held at the Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa Conference Centre of the new GHS Headquarters in Pantang, brought together stakeholders from the health and non-health sectors to advance a well-coordinated and effective national public health emergency management system.

GHANA PUTS ITS PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM TO THE TEST IN COORDEX I
The Ghana Health Service through the National Public Health Emergency Operation Centre (PHEOC) yesterday held COORDEX I, the National Public Health Emergency Coordination and Operational Response Functional Exercise (Simulation), bringing together government institutions, health sector agencies, One Health partners, emergency management bodies, security services, NADMO, academia, and development partners to test the country's ability to coordinate and respond to a public health emergency. In all, there were representations from about 30 institutions (health and non-health sectors).
